Summary: The research analyzes the cognitive and emotional attitudes of children from elementary school towards the inclusion of “big questions” in the pedagogical process. The approved option is realized in the extended and additional training (optional hours) in the study of Motherland studies and Man and nature in the second and third grades. The purpose of the research is oriented towards the readiness of primary school-aged students to think about the “big questions”. The results of the conducted research were obtained by means of a Likert scale, in which the students mark their assessment regarding different aspects of their attitude towards working with the “big questions”. On the so-called rating scale, the corresponding rating is noted, with a value of 1 being the lowest degree of manifestation of the indicated indicator, and a value of 4 being the highest one. The results show that in the extended and additional training in motherland studies and man and nature in the second and third grade, when applying a relatively sustainable pedagogical technology, the students reflect calmly and fully on the proposed “central” questions, show interest in the opinions of their classmates and have lasting attitudes to making sense of and understanding fundamental problems and ideas about nature and society.
