Abstract: PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to contribute to the interdisciplinary understanding of the educational trajectory of Turkish and Bulgarian education systems.
METHODS: In this study, using the document analysis method, the regions, numbers and number of students of Bulgarian schools within the borders of the Ottoman Empire at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century were examined in detail.
RESULTS: As a result of this analysis, it can be seen that there were Bulgarian schools in the provinces of Edirne, Kosovo, Monastir and Thessaloniki between 1898 and 1903, when the annuals were published. It is seen that the majority of the schools in question consist of secondary schools. The number of schools, which was 33 in 1898, increased to 35 in 1899, 36 in 1900, 39 in 1901 and 43 in 1903.
CONCLUSIONS: Education Yearbooks published between 1898 and 1903 contain important information about the History of Bulgarian Education. The information here shows that the history of Bulgarian Education has a deep-rooted history.
